SIX-STEP LAWN FERTILIZATION PROGRAM

It is often said that the best defense is a good offense. Here at Green Head Turf Systems we agree with that philosophy. Many people don't realize that a lawn is a living, breathing organism, and as such, requires constant attention and nutrition. That is where our six step program comes in.

The six step program is designed to manage problems before they begin. And just in case a renegade weed or hungry insect appears, we have a cure for that, too! A carefully- designed and applied regimen of treatments applied at regular intervals from early spring to winter supplies the appropriate amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and iron to create an emerald-green carpet of thick and luxurious turf.

Local horticultural experts have designed the following program for Green Head Turf Systems customers to optimize results:

Being a part of the Green Head family means you can take pride in your lawn without worry. That is why we offer complementary spraying of such weeds as nutsadge and crabgrass. If for any reason you are not satisfied with the results call me and we'll make you happy. We guarantee it or your money back.

This is truly a product that is great for all types of lawns in the Johnson County Area – This professional Lawn Care service is the first step to having the best lawn at your block. The best part is that it is affordable on nearly any budget.

ROUND ONE

Applied in the very early spring. The goal is to provide a well- balanced fertilizer to help bring the turf out of dormancy in a controlled fashion while promoting healthy root growth. It includes a broad spectrum pre-emergent to prevent weeds.

ROUND TWO

Applied six weeks after the first round, usually in mid April through May. This product is designed to focus on the development of a thicker turf grass while promoting root growth. We also spot treat for any weeds that have broken the pre-emergence barrier such as foxtail or crabgrass..

ROUND THREE

Applied from mid June through July. Temperatures are beginning to climb and this can be the beginning of a very stressful period for your lawn. This application has a low nitrogen rate to reduce the possibility of such diseases as dollar spot and brown patch. Once again we will also spot treat for broad leaf weeds as needed.

ROUND FOUR

Applied from mid June through July. Perhaps the most important weapon in the offensive arsenal, the round will attack and kill any grubs or other harmful insects living in the soil. Equally important, it will also lay down a protective layer to prevent future infestation that season.

ROUND FIVE

Applied from late August through September. The trees are about to start turning colors and your lawn is hungry. At this time of the year it is very important to provide a slow-release nitrogen fertilizer to help your lawn recover from any stress that it might have endured during the long, hot and humid Kansas City summer months. This application also maintains the root growth that has been established during prior treatments. We also provide just a little shot of iron to help green up the lawn.

ROUND SIX

Applied October through November. With winter upon us, this application is all nitrogen in a slow-release formula to help your lawn through the freezing and thawing cycles ahead.

Organic Program

Green Head Turf prides itself in being an environmental steward. As a result we offer a full spectrum of organic programs. Each program is tailored to meet your needs. Give us a call and we can prepare a special program just for you giving you the greenest lawn on the block at an affordable price and allowing you to make sure you are not harming the environment either.

Aeration & Overseeding

Remember that your turf is a living, breathing organism, and as such needs air, light moisture and nutrients to thrive. If the soil is compacted these elements cannot reach the roots and the result is a thin stand of grass that has difficulty growing. That's when aeration comes to the rescue!

What is Aeration and How Does it Help the Lawn?

Core aeration is the environmentally- friendly process of removing lots of small plugs of soil from the lawn to help break up soil compaction and thatch build-up. The removed plugs are left on the surface to break down naturally over a period of a few weeks. The holes created by the removed plugs allow air, water and fertilizer to more easily reach the root zone. Core aeration also has the ecologic and environmental benefit of improving soil water intake and decreasing water runoff and puddling.

When is the best time for aeration?

Warm days and cool nights along with adequate rainfall are the ideal conditions for aeration. In Johnson County and surrounding suburbs that means fall is the best time. It is generally best to avoid the hot mid-summer months because stress can occur from moisture evaporation.

When is the best time for overseeding?

Here in the Midwest the optimum time to overseed is in the early fall when the nights begin to cool and the days are still warm. Good seed to soil contact is important for germination, and that's where aerating helps. The aeration holes are the perfect host for the seed. Our technicians at Green Head Turf Systems can select the ideal blend of grass to make your lawn more resistant to disease, drought and insects.

All of these elements are perfect lawn treatment options to make your house the best looking on your block! .

Sprinkler Activation & Winterization

Our sprinkler staff has over twenty years of experience dealing with those pesky sprinkler systems. We handle it all from spring activation to winter blow out service. We even offer a regular maintenance program during the summer months to ensure your system is operating at its very best saving you money with reduced water bills.

Intergrated Pest Management Systems

Nothing is worse than seeing your beautiful trees, shrubs, mulch, and lawn destroyed by those pesky insects chewing their way through the salad bar you call your landscaping. Well you are in luck. Working with our network of entomologists and horticulturists we have been able to develop an Integrated Pest Management Program, or IPM program, focused on the insects we typically have the most trouble with, you know bag worms, spider mites and boring beetles . In doing so we are able to reduce the amount of product used in a season thus reducing pesticide residue while also at the same time allowing cretin beneficial insects to live. Give us a call we would love to offer you an IPM program today.
